JCB Literature Foundation Partners with Access For All to Launch a Learning Box for Differently-Abled Youngsters | Frontlist

The learning box strives to establish an inclusive educational environment while also meeting the diverse requirements of differently abled children.

The JCB Literature Foundation and accessibility consultant Access For ALL have launched 'Sugamya Qissa Pitara', a one-of-a-kind accessible learning box.

The project's goal is to establish an inclusive educational environment that values variety, creativity, and accessibility while meeting the complex needs of differently abled students.
Each 'Sugamya Qissa Pitara' is designed with Universal Design principles in mind, and it provides parents and carers with new books, activity sheets, and specific training from Inclusive learning experts.

The box, which includes a sensory mat for increased cognitive growth, contains a variety of resources, including sensory, silent, and behavioural books. It has been designed with special needs in mind, with tactile and sensory books using braille and large letters to meet the needs of visually impaired youngsters.

It also includes specially designed carer manuals in Hindi and English, which provide essential insights and support for creating effective learning settings at home.
In discussing the initiative, Siddhant Shah, founder of Access for All, stated that Sugamya Qissa Pitara "exemplifies the transformative power of inclusive design".

"At Access For All, our devoted team creates learning tools and activities that prioritise enrichment and inclusivity for all. Our designs rigorously include special needs pedagogical principles, improving hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual discrimination," Shah said in a statement.

The Sugamya Qissa Pitara scheme, which began in Delhi, will soon expand to other parts of the country.

Earlier, under a separate project with NGO Saksham, the Foundation has converted the shortlisted books of the JCB Prize for Literature into visual impairment friendly formats (braille and digital) of which the digital versions are made available for free, worldwide, via the Daisy Library (Sugamya Pustakalya).
